As the sun sets on the land of fantasy, an almost tangible tension grips the air. The sound of rustling leaves from the trees lining the clearing where Cid Kagenuo and Cid Kagenou stand, swords at the ready, challenges the silence. "I can see the confidence in your eyes," Cid Kagenou drawls, tilting his head to the side. "But let's see if it's justified." He steps forward, his sleek black form moving fluidly, like oil sliding across the ground. Cid Kagenuo smirks, brandishing his slime sword. "You don't scare me, big guy. You're just all talk." He charges forward, his sword flashing in the orange light of the sunset. Cid Kagenou sidesteps, his movements barely noticeable as he nimbly dances away from the strike. "I'm not all talk, Kagenuo. You'd do well to remember that." The two clash swords, the sound ringing out in the clearing. Cid Kagenuo's sword meets the black slime sword, but the attack is easily parried. The two dance back and forth, their swords singing as they slice through the air. "Clever," Cid Kagenou says, a small smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth. "But not enough." He murmurs a few words under his breath, the shadows converging around him and his eyes glowing a deep crimson red. Suddenly, he disappears from view, leaving Cid Kagenuo standing alone in the clearing. Cid Kagenuo's eyes widen in surprise, scanning the area around him for any sign of his opponent. Suddenly, he hears a sound behind him, turning just in time to parry Cid Kagenou's incoming blow. "How did you-?" Cid Kagenuo starts, but Cid Kagenou interrupts him. "You've been fighting with swords for too long, Kagenuo. You need to broaden your horizons." He murmurs a few words, and suddenly the air around them shimmers and distorts, as if it's made of liquid. Cid Kagenuo watches in awe as Cid Kagenou plucks a sword made of pure darkness from the air and charges forward, their blades meeting in a shower of sparks. The two continue their dance, their movements more fluid and graceful than before. Cid Kagenuo's eyes narrow as he realizes that he's outmatched in this fight, that he's come up against a true master of combat. But he refuses to give up. He grits his teeth, his eyes flashing with determination as he delivers a string of powerful attacks, each one parried with ease by Cid Kagenou. "You're good," Cid Kagenuo says between breaths. "But I'm not done yet." He charges forward, his sword crackling with energy as he prepares his final attack. "I AM ATOMIC!" he shouts, gathering a huge amount of energy and unleashing it on his opponent. The clearing is engulfed in blinding light, and when it fades, Cid Kagenuo stands battered and bruised, his slime sword lying shattered at his feet. Cid Kagenou stands a few feet away, his black slime sword held loosely at his side. "It's over, Kagenuo," Cid Kagenou says, his voice filled with finality. Cid Kagenuo looks up at him, a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Yeah," he says, blood trickling from his mouth. "I guess it is." The two shake hands, an unspoken respect flowing between them. Cid Kagenuo may have lost the fight, but he gained something even more valuable- a friend and rival in the land of fantasy.
