on most characters, this will either a, wrap you up in a story or b, give you abilities that most other characters have by that scene in the story. in very rare cases, the 3 gods of narration make an appearance to give the story a plot. they also really push the power level up.
the two unnamed usually take the role of overpowered end boss who is actually easy to beat and the hero who closes the triangle of powers between player a and b, but also sometimes takes a Gandalf type role.

oh, and unless there's a hook for them to manifest (such as the radio in the invitation (novel) the "God's of Narration" above won't manifest, though they do have influence and sometimes (often) masquerade as various npc's or voices on the wind or the players mind.
